Eberhard von Otterstedt

Eberhard von Otterstedt (born October 10, 1881 in Hildburghausen , † 1968 in Ballenstedt ) was a German landscape painter , portraitist, draftsman and children's book illustrator.

Von Otterstedt came from an old Brandenburg noble family from the Teltow district . His great-grandfather was the Prussian diplomat Georg Ulrich Ludwig Joachim Friedrich von Otterstedt (1769–1850). He studied at the Academy of Arts (Berlin) and later in Paris. Von Otterstedt lived and worked where his parents lived, where he also taught painting students and later died. In 1925 he married Helene Erika von Spies from Pittehnen / East Prussia .

Otterstedt portrayed Bogislav von Bonin and was in contact with Clemens von Delbrück . Stained glass windows on the medieval town history in the Stendhal town hall (Gewandhaus), which were designed around 1939, have been preserved.
