Swantus Peter Bogislav von Bonin , also Bonin-Bahrenbusch , (born December 23, 1842 in Pasewalk , † January 27, 1929 in Bahrenbusch ) was a Prussian politician ( German Conservative Party ) and Pomeranian landowner.

Life

Bogislav von Bonin was the oldest of seven children of Ernst von Bonin (1816-1882), Rittmeister in the cuirassier regiment in Pasewalk, and Henriette von Holtzendorff (born May 11, 1823).

From 1855 he attended the Gymnasium zum Grauen Kloster and from 1860 the French Gymnasium in Berlin . In 1863 he moved to the Prima of the grammar school in Prenzlau, where he finished his school days. He then went to the 2nd Guards Dragoon Regiment as a one-year volunteer . In order to take over one of his father's estates, he began an agricultural education. As an ensign he took part in the German War in 1866 . After the war he was promoted to second lieutenant in the Landwehr . In the same year he began a trip to France, where he conducted agricultural studies until 1867. After his return he took over the Plietnitz estate in the Neustettin district . In the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71, he was responsible for supplying troops with a Guard Landwehr squadron. He ended his military career with the rank of Rittmeister .

From 1874 to 1899 Bogislav von Bonin was district administrator for the district of Neustettin . The city of Neustettin made him an honorary citizen . From 1880 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Pomerania and from 1884 of the Pomeranian Provincial Synod. From 1895 to 1918 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives for the Conservatives . From 1898 to 1918 he was a member of the Reichstag . In 1899 he voted against the construction of the Mittelland Canal and was therefore counted among the canal rebels and put up for disposition as an official.

Bogislav von Bonin was a legal knight of the Order of St. John .
