Franz Neubert (actually Franz Fürchtegott Neubert, nickname Goethe-Papa , born December 23, 1878 in Chemnitz , † 1959 in Leipzig ) was a German writer , translator , author , lecturer , editor and publisher of reference works and books about Goethe .

Live and act

Franz Neubert lived with his wife Heima Neubert, a well-known astrologer in the southern suburb of Leipzig and had two sons. Most recently and before the closure by the National Socialist regime in 1944 , he was the head of the publishing house of JJ Weber in Leipzig . He was also the editor of several books about Goethe and his thinking and environment and an illustrated lexicon , worked as a co-author on several books, translated some works into German and wrote articles and reviews in the magazine Illustrirte Zeitung .

After 1944 he worked as an editor for various authors and publishers and looked after his grandson .

His son "Teddie" Frohwalt Neubert he asked for as part of the Hot Club Leipzig regularly scheduled jazz - jam sessions his library. This earned him the nickname "Goethe-Papa".
