Paul Schreckbach

Paulus Friedrich Immanuel Schreckenbach (born November 6, 1866 in Neumark , † June 27, 1922 in Klitzschen (buried: Torgau )) was a German pastor and writer .

Life

Coming from an old pastor's family, Schreckenbach spent his youth in Zwatzen . He completed a degree in theology , with visits to readings on German history and literature in Halle , Marburg and Leipzig . At the latter university Schreckenbach was founded in 1894 on the theme "Luther and the Peasants' War" to Dr. phil. PhD . In 1896 he took a position as pastor in Klitzschen. Now financially secure, he married Katharina Wenck (the daughter of a history professor!) In the same year, in which four sons and two daughters were born.

After historical studies, Schreckenbach initially went public with a few smaller popular scientific and ballad-like histories. In 1905 his first novel " Die von Wintzingerode " was published, which was to be followed by many more over the years. During the First World War he also published a number of patriotic articles in the press. As a result, he wrote several novels and other writings.

In his publications, Schreckenbach dealt with the ethical and patriotic issues of his time. As a basis for this he used real historical events, which he freely redesigned artistically.

Of his 14 main works alone, well over half a million copies were distributed; Schreckenbach was thus one of the most widely read folk writers of his time.
