Eblisia minor is a beetle from the family of the beetles (Histeridae).
features
The black beetles grow to be 3–4 mm long. The body shape is oval and normally arched. The short elytra do not cover the entire abdomen . They have 3 whole longitudinal grooves on the outside and 3 shortened fine longitudinal grooves on the inside. The antennae are short and thickened at the end like a piston. The legs are relatively short, the rails (tibia) widened like shovels. In addition to the end tooth, the rear rails have 2 teeth on the outer edge.
distribution
The beetles are widespread in Europe.
Way of life
The beetles are found especially in primeval forests. There they usually stay under the bark of dead trees ( poplars ( Populus ), birches ( Betula ) and pines ( Pinus )).
Eblisia minor beetles and larvae feed mainly on bark beetle larvae and fly maggots .
