Ebola is the name of a small tributary of the Mongala that flows into the South Atlantic via the Congo .

The Ebola River meanders through the dense forest of North Ubangi Province in northwestern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). It flows exclusively through the DRC and at the confluence forms the Mongala, a right tributary of the Congo.
Ebola fever
He became known for the Ebola fever that first appeared on its banks . In this region, the often fatal fever was discovered in 1976 by Belgian scientists. A Catholic mission hospital was located by the river in the village of Yambuku , where the first known outbreak of the disease occurred in 1976. That is why the virus was named after the river.
