Echeveria acutifolia is a species of the genus Echeveria ( Echeveria ) in the thick-leaf family(Crassulaceae). The specific epithet acutifolia is derived from the Latin words acutus for 'pointed' and folius for 'leafy'.

Echeveria acutifolia grows singly and rarely branches. The shoots reach a length of 10 centimeters or more. The almost rhombic and very pointed leaves are concave on the upper side, have an attached tip and are colored green with a purple or red tint.

The narrow cymös -rispige inflorescence is short and stiff branches from 3 to 4, individual flowers. The ascending sepals are linear and half as long as the corolla. The urn-shaped corolla is 5-edged and colored scarlet with a yellow tint.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 54 or 56.

Distribution and systematics

Echeveria acutifolia is common in Mexico in the state of Oaxaca . T. MacDougall found a variant with glossy red leaves on Cerro Guiengola. Abisaí García in Nizanda picked up a shape with mostly green leaves.

The first description was in 1842 by John Lindley . Synonyms for the species are Cotyledon acutifolia (Lindl.) Baker , Cotyledon devensis N.E.Br. , Echeveria devensis (NEBr.) MLGreen and Echeveria holwayi Rose .
