Echeveria alata is a species of the genus Echeveria ( Echeveria ) in the family of thick-leaf plants (Crassulaceae).

description

Echeveria alata forms small shrubs up to 8 centimeters in height or higher. The shoots reach a diameter of about 7 millimeters. The obscure lanceolate and thorn-pointed leaves are arranged diffusely along the shoots or in rosettes. They become 3 to 6 inches long and 1 to 2.4 inches wide. They are 6 to 8 millimeters thick, green and colored red on the edge.

The inflorescence forms panicles 10 to 20 centimeters long. The flower stalk becomes 1.5 to 1.8 inches long. The strongly ascending sepals are 1.1 to 1.8 centimeters long. The urn-shaped corolla is sharp, pentagonal or five-winged and 1.7 to 2.2 centimeters long. It is scarlet at the bottom and yellow at the top. The number of chromosomes is 17.

Distribution and systematics

Echeveria alata is common in Mexico in the state of Oaxaca near Yólox .

It was first described in 1941 by Edward Johnston Alexander .
