Edward Johnston Alexander

Edward Johnston Alexander (born July 31, 1901 in Asheville , North Carolina , † 1985 ) was an American botanist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Alexander ".

He worked at the New York Botanical Garden . His specialty were the cactus plants (Cactaceae). For the US botanist Nathaniel Lord Britton's Flora of North America , he contributed to volume 19 number 1 “Pontederiaceae” (1937), together with EE Sheriff to volume 2 of the second series “Compositae-Coreopsidinae” (1955). Alexander was the editor of Addisonia .
