Echinocereus ledingii is a species of plant in the genus Echinocereus from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet ledingii honors the American cactus lover AM Leding from New Mexico . A common name is "Leding's Hedgehog Cactus".

Echinocereus ledingii forms groups of four to ten shoots . The green, egg-shaped to cylindrical, sometimes elongated shoots are 25 to 50 centimeters long and 6 to 8 centimeters in diameter. They are largely covered by the thorns. There are twelve to 14 (rarely up to 16) ribs that are not tubercular. The one to four strong, round, yellowish central spines become blackish and have lengths of 2 to 2.5 centimeters. The strongest of them is strongly bent downwards. The nine to eleven spread, yellowish radial spines are 1.2 to 1.5 centimeters long.
The broad, funnel-shaped flowers are magenta to pink-purple in color. They appear near the shoot tips or on the shoot sides, are 5 to 6 centimeters long and reach the same diameter. The spherical initially green fruits turn red later. They are meaty and edible.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Echinocereus ledingii is found in the United States in the southeastern state of Arizona .
The first description by Robert Hibbs Peebles was published in 1936. A nomenclatory synonym is Echinocereus fendleri var. Ledingii (Peebles) NPTaylor (1985).
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
