The Echterdinger eG is a cooperative bank in Filderstadt community Leinfelden-Echterdingen . Its business area is essentially limited to the area of the municipality of Echterdingen, which was independent until the local government reform. The bank was founded in 1914 by citizens of Echterdingen and is still owned by the members. With over 2,300 shareholders, almost every fifth citizen of Echterdingen is a partner in the bank.
history
On March 14, 1914, 35 citizens of Echterdingen came together at Gasthof Lamm to found the Echterdinger Loan Association. The history of today's Echterdinger Bank begins with this founding meeting.
The Echterdingen loan association was registered with the Royal District Court of Stuttgart on April 14, 1914 for entry in the cooperative register. In the first general assembly, Gottlob Wölfe was elected head of the association and Albert Kizele was elected its deputy. Friedrich Fallscheer, Friedrich Stäbler and Wilhelm Stollsteimer formed the board of directors at that time. Ludwig Auch as chairman and Ludwig Steckroth as his deputy as well as Karl Krämer, Andreas Armbrust, Gottlob Raff, Friedrich Wolfer and Friedrich Fauser were appointed to the supervisory board . The businessman Friedrich Groß was named as the first computer of the loan association.
By the end of 1914 the 35 comrades had grown to 77 and by the end of 1915 104 members. The balance sheet as of December 31, 1915 showed a monetary turnover of 322,705.75 marks, assets of 78,457.09 marks and liabilities of 78,451.62 marks - the profit was 5.47 marks. In 1919 the balance sheet profit rose to 1,136.47 marks. In 1920 a new statute came into force.
From 1935 to 1955 the bank was called “Spar- und Kreditkasse Echterdingen” until it was renamed “Genossenschaftsbank Echterdingen” and finally “Echterdinger Bank”. In 1936 the first bank and warehouse was built, which was destroyed in 1944. At the beginning of the Second World War in 1945, banking operations were resumed in a new building. When the currency reform was decided in 1948 , a new bank was built.
The bank recorded its first 10 million mark balance in 1968 and its 1000th member in 1980. In 1986 a balance sheet total of 100 million marks was reached. Since 1984 the bank has been housed in the new bank on Hauptstrasse. In 2014 the bank celebrated its 100th anniversary.
