The Eckenroth Foundation is a non-profit foundation that operates in the German-speaking region . It was founded in 1993 for the purpose of promoting culture in the media.

Goals and purpose

The aim of the foundation is to stimulate and support artistic endeavors in the fields of theater, film, television and literature. Since 1998 she has specialized in promoting young writers in these areas. With the annual writing talent competition Green Laurel, talented young authors are discovered, who are then supported by sponsorship and training until they reach professional maturity.

Seat

The Eckenroth Foundation works in Eckenroth in the Hunsrück . It maintains writing rooms and since 2010 its own writing house for writing training as well as guest houses to accommodate the sponsored authors. The official seat is Heilbronn .

Green Laurel Young Talent Award

The Eckenroth Foundation offers continuous writing training for young authors. Entry is possible as a prize winner or as a career changer with the appropriate qualifications. The non-profit foundation finances writing training, accommodation, meals and support from donations.

Tender

The Green Laurel writing competition (registered trademark since August 31, 2007) has been held every January since 1998 . Children between 10 and 14 years of age are invited to write a story they have experienced themselves on a maximum of two pages. The deadline for submissions is May, and five jurors will choose the ten best stories. The competition took place in Switzerland for the first time in 2012 . This year's patron was the publisher Egon Ammann .

Price package

The winners receive a trophy, the publication of the award history on the website of the Eckenroth Foundation, reading of the works at the Frankfurt Book Fair in the reading tent, a book on the subject, a visit to the Goethe House in Frankfurt am Main , a first branch of laurel, the award ceremony in Eckenroth , 25 euros in cash and an invitation to apply as a scholarship holder for the funding program.

Funding program and training

The following levels of writing training that build on one another are offered:

  • Introductory training (two days, on the weekend of the award ceremony. Participation voluntary)
  • Basic support level (three weekends, participation mandatory after registration)
  • Orientation support level (14 months, regular writing weekends, participation mandatory after registration)
  • Qualification level - recognition as writing talent (continuous training)

The Eckenroth Foundation currently supports 24 writing children and writing talents who regularly take part in writing training. Today winners of the first year study writing, culture, education, film and theater. Writing talents who start a corresponding degree can train as certified writing trainers in the foundation.
