history

Eckernförder Bank eG was created on January 1st, 2000 through the merger of Eckernförder Volksbank eG with Raiffeisenbank Dänischer Wohld eG and renamed “Eckernförder Bank eG Volksbank-Raiffeisenbank”.

Eckernförder Volksbank eG

On July 23, 1874, the bookbinder Schützler called a meeting to set up a cooperative bank with the aim of providing members with cash through joint credit and making unused money interest-bearing. On October 1st, banking operations began in Eckernförde. In 1940 the "Eckernförder Creditbank" was renamed "Eckernförder Volksbank eGmbH, Credit- und Sparbank since 1874". In 1943 there was a merger with the savings and loan association eGmbH in Eckernförde. 1974 saw the renaming of the "Eckernförder Volksbank eGmbH, Credit- und Sparbank since 1874" to Eckernförder Volksbank eG. The establishment of branches and the takeover of smaller cooperative banks in Fleckeby (1974), Rieseby (1982) and Ascheffel (1986) strengthen the development of Eckernförder Volksbank eG.

Raiffeisenbank Dänischer Wohld eG

On May 6, 1919, the savings and loan fund Revensdorf-Gettorf was founded. In 1972, the Revensdorf-Gettorf savings and loan association merged with the institute of the same name in Schinkel, which was also founded in 1919 and merged with the Neuwittenbek savings and loan association in 1965. In 1984 the cooperative banks Dänischenhagen, Gettorf and Osdorf merged to form Raiffeisenbank Dänischer Wohld eG.
