Eckhard Erxleben

Eckhard Erxleben (born March 12, 1944 in Stendal ) is a German writer and poet from the Altmark .

Erxleben grew up in Schorstedt in the Altmark region . After finishing school and studying, he obtained a diploma in education. In this subject, as well as in literature and communication, he taught adult education for several decades.

In 1999 he published his first volume of poetry.

But he was able to record his greatest success as an idea generator and initiator of an international poetry competition: the Silberberg Prize. The result was around 2000 submissions from over 20 countries on the subject of “home”. Erxleben donated the prize and a very demanding competition edition with the best 62 submissions together with his literary circle of friends and supported by the Altmärkischer Heimatbund and the interest group of German-speaking authors (IgdA). He also organizes haiku project days at schools, haiku seminars, literature workshops and poetry therapies.

Erxleben is married and has two children.
