Schorstedt is a district of the town of Bismark (Altmark) in the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany).

geography

The Altmark village Schorstedt between Bismark (Altmark) and Osterburg (Altmark) , about 20 km northwest of Stendal . The south of the district is dominated by the forest area Blasebalg .

history

The town was founded around 1,700 years ago (first wave of settlements in the Altmark). To the part inhabited by German farmers, a Wendish part was added around the year 800 (Slavic settlement period).

Until December 31, 2009 Schorstedt was an independent municipality with the associated district of Grävenitz .

The local council of the community of Schorstedt decided on June 9, 2009 to approve an area change agreement, which dissolved their community and became part of a new unified community called the city ​​of Bismark (Altmark) . This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on January 1, 2010.
