history

Until December 31, 2009 Schäplitz was an independent municipality.

The local council of the community Schäplitz decided on June 22nd, 2009 to approve an area change agreement, whereby their community was dissolved and part of a new unified community called the city of Bismark (Altmark) . This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on January 1, 2010.

A local council with three members including the local mayor was formed in the incorporated community and now the locality of Schäplitz.

politics

mayor

The last mayor of the municipality of Schäplitz was Karola Ollesch (born June 15, 1960 - † May 10, 2016 ).

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on January 10, 1995 by the Magdeburg Regional Council.

Blazon : “oblique left divided by gold over green; above two upright averted black axes, below a left-facing silver heron with wings attached to it. "

The tinging of the coat of arms represents agriculture as the main livelihood of the inhabitants. Whereby green stands for the fertile pastures and arable land and is intended to express the closeness of the residents to nature. Gold is supposed to express the wealth of the meadows and fields. In fact, there are a number of large farms in Schäplitz, which could only be formed through the fertility of the district. The root word of the name Schäplitz comes from the Slavic czapla = heron, and can be interpreted as a heron nest. This bird can still be found in the lowlands today. The von Schäplitz family, which undoubtedly got their name from this place, had two upright axes with their backs to each other in their coat of arms, as did those of Stendal and von Klöden.

The coat of arms was designed by Meinhard Genz.
