Querstedt is a village and part of the town of Bismark (Altmark) in the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany).

geography

The village of Querstedt is located in the south of the Altmark , about 20 km west of Stendal . The slightly hilly area around Querstedt (up to 57  m above sea  level ) is bounded in the north by the Secantsgraben and in the south by the upper Uchte , on which the village of Deetz is located.

history

The originally Slavic settlement first appears in a document in 1278. The stone church Querstedts dates from the early 13th century. In 1409, the city ​​of Stendal built a square tower, the Deetz Warte, at the Deetz an der Uchte outpost . This defense tower was used to protect against attacks on the old military road to Gardelegen .

On July 1, 1973, the Deetz community was incorporated into Querstedt.

Until December 31, 2009 Querstedt was an independent municipality in the district of Stendal with the associated district Deetz.

The council of the municipality of Querstedt decided on June 22nd, 2009 to approve an area change agreement, whereby their municipality was dissolved and part of a new unified municipality called the city ​​of Bismark (Altmark) . This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on January 1, 2010.

A local council with five members including the local mayor was formed in the incorporated municipality and now the village of Querstedt.

The country road (L 30) leads through Querstedt from Kläden to Vinzelberg , where it crosses federal highway 188 north of Vinzelberg . Regular buses and on-call buses run by Regionalverkehr Westsachsen (RVW) under the brand name stendalbus . The nearest train stations are Kläden on the Stendal – Uelzen railway line and Vinzelberg station on the Berlin-Lehrter railway Stendal - Wolfsburg .
