Vinzelberg is a village in the southwest of the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany). The formerly independent municipality has been part of the Hanseatic city of Stendal since April 29, 2010 .

geography

The place Vinzelberg in the south of the Altmark lies on the upper Uchte , between the towns of Stendal and Gardelegen . The Tangier , a left tributary of the Elbe, rises two kilometers southwest of Vinzelberg . The area around Vinzelberg is slightly hilly and gradually rises towards the south to the Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide .

history

Vinzelberg was first mentioned in a document as early as 1006, but excavations suggest that the settlement was much older. The brick church in round arch style with grave slabs from the 16th and 17th centuries dates from 1867.

After the dissolution of the administrative community Stendal-Uchtetal on January 1, 2010, the municipality was initially co-administered by the district town of Stendal.

On January 27, 2010, the municipality council of the municipality of Vinzelberg decided that the municipality of Vinzelberg should be incorporated into the Hanseatic city of Stendal. This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on April 29, 2010.

After incorporation of the previously independent municipality Vinzelberg, Vinzelberg became part of the Hanseatic city of Stendal. For the incorporated municipality, the local constitution was introduced according to §§ 86 ff. Of the municipality code of Saxony-Anhalt . The incorporated municipality of Vinzelberg and the future district of Vinzelberg became the locality of the receiving Hanseatic city of Stendal. A local council with five members, including the local mayor, was formed in the incorporated municipality and now Vinzelberg.

coat of arms

Alexander Duncker collection

The coat of arms was approved by the district on May 19, 2009.

Blazon : “A red eagle with a golden beak and tongue and golden clover stems on the Saxen, growing in silver from a green three-mountain, the three-mountain is covered with a transverse, right-turning silver sword with a gold handle and crossguard, and a silver covering the sword bordered blue shield, inside a striding silver dromedary. "

The colors of the municipality are - derived from the main coat of arms (eagle) and shield color - red and white.

The content of the coat of arms is linked to a legend such as the von Kröcher family who were once wealthy here. It is said of the “Winselberg” that a terrible battle raged here in the Middle Ages, as a result of which the whining of the wounded and dying could be heard from afar. Today's Windmühlenberg near the place is meant to be. Based on this legend, the municipal coat of arms shows a three-mountain topped with a sword, from which the Brandenburg eagle grows - the transfer of the political genesis from the pre-medieval battles between Franks and Saxons, Slavs and Germans.

Another element in the local coat of arms is the coat of arms of the von Kröcher family. The gentlemen von Kröcher belong to the Magdeburg nobility and settled in the Mark Brandenburg early on. They have their rare coat of arms, the camel or dromedary, in common with the von Olvenstedt family, who were also archaeological from Magdeburg and appeared around the same time. There was probably a tribal community between the two families.

The coat of arms was designed by the municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch .

flag

The flag is striped red and white (1: 1) (landscape format: stripes running horizontally, lengthwise format: stripes running vertically) and centered with the municipal coat of arms.
