geography

Local division

The districts of Darnewitz and Kläden belong to the village of Kläden.

history

On September 30, 1928, the manor district of Kläden was merged with the rural community of Kläden. The estate was a v. Levetzow's manor. The Vorwerk Darnewitz belonged to the manor district of Kläden, which came to Kläden as a district due to the dissolution of the manor district. Until December 31, 2009, Kläden was an independent municipality.

The local council of the municipality of Kläden decided on June 11, 2009 to approve an area change agreement, which dissolved their municipality and became part of a new unified municipality called the city of Bismark (Altmark) . This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on January 1, 2010.

A local council with seven members including the local mayor is formed in the incorporated municipality and now the village of Kläden.

The last mayor of the municipality of Kläden was Manfred Raatz.

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on June 25, 1993 by the Magdeburg Regional Council.

Blazon : "In silver a black sloping bar covered with a green central shield accompanied by two green oak leaves, in the central shield two silver axes turned away."

The black bar was chosen with reference to the origin of the place name. In 1170, Kläden was first mentioned in a deed of donation from Margrave Otto I to the diocese of Havelberg. The spelling of the place changed several times over the centuries from Clodene (1186–1209) via Clöden (1318) to the current name of the place. This is of Slavic origin and is derived from the word "kloda" = log block house. The battle axes shown in the heart shield are modeled on the oldest known coat of arms of Kläden. However, the original shield color blue is replaced by green. The green color should express the closeness to nature of the place and at the same time set an example for the future development. The two oak leaves represent the many old oak trees in the area. They outlasted the centuries; the community wants to preserve and protect them. They should be a symbol for stability, solidarity with the homeland and for a stable development of the community in the future.

flag

The flag was approved by the county on March 16, 2009.

The flag has equal proportions of white and green stripes (landscape format: stripes running horizontally, lengthways format: stripes running vertically) and the center of the municipal coat of arms.
