Corner point

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The corner point is a heraldic image in heraldry .

A point is shown that has its beginning in a corner of the coat of arms. Four corner points are possible. These are designated in right and left in connection with upper and lower according to the position of the tip. The approach for "lower" is the imaginary intersection of the horizontal shield base boundary line with the edge of the coat of arms.

The corner point is also possible in a crossing . Each quarter can have a different location. An example of two corner points is the coat of arms of the Bernese Zieler family (Berner Wappenbuch , 1932.).

The corner point can be covered with images of heralds or coats of arms . Another name is wedge . If the point does not begin in the specified corners of the coat of arms, the representation is a stand and is described with a lap (lap). The herald's image of rafters in the position of a corner point remains a rafter.
