The Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) is an African bank , which focuses on corporate and private customers. In addition to the payment transactions , deposit and credit business as well as ATM and online banking typical for these business areas , the bank offers the exchange business , which is less common in Europe today . Another area of activity for the bank that is not widespread in Europe is microfinance , which has been used around the world as a means to fight poverty since Muhammad Yunus was awarded the Nobel Prize . The bank works with the US ACCION International .

In 1984 Ecopromotions SA, which was founded to establish a bank, was commissioned to attract investors.
