Econo is a regional business magazine that has been published in Baden-Württemberg since 2005. The magazine has been published since October 2012 by Econo Verlags-GmbH based in Villingen-Schwenningen . Econo appears with eleven issues per year with a circulation of up to 18,000 copies each. According to an independent reader survey by the market research institute "Cobus" from Karlsruhe, 80 percent of the readers are decision-makers in companies and professions, in banks and savings banks, as well as local authorities and other political levels.

As a journalistically independent business magazine for medium-sized companies in the south-west, Econo fills the gap between the local daily newspaper and the national business press.

Econo emerged from the earlier business magazine "Business in Baden", which the Offenburger publisher Klaus Kresse developed and established in 1998. At that time there was still a cooperation with the " Mittelbadische Presse ", which has not existed since 2004. Until autumn 2012, Südwestdeutsche Medienholding was involved in Econo through the Schwarzwälder Bote Mediengesellschaft. The independent licensed edition Econo Rhein-Neckar has been published since 2008 under the responsibility of “ Mannheimer Morgen ” .
