Edgar Frederick "Eddie" King (born February 25, 1914 in Hackney , London , † 1993 ) was an English football player .

Career

King played after his school days in the youth system of Tottenham Hotspur , first for the Tottenham Juniors , then for the clubs serving as the farm team Tufnell Park FC and from 1932 Northfleet United . In November 1933 he rose to the professional at Tottenham, but until his debut in the Football League First Division against Aston Villa he had to wait until September 1934. In the home game on White Hart Lane , he represented Fred Channell as left defender Billy Whatley , despite a 2-0 defeat in front of over 40,000 spectators, he was attested a "promising performance" by the press. However, King had to leave the pitch 15 minutes before the end of the game due to an injury. He did not recover from the leg injury he suffered in the game and ended his football career in 1936 without further commitment. His nephew Derek King also played for the Spurs in the 1950s.
