Eddie Kirkup
Eddie Kirkup (actually Ernest Kirkup; born July 12, 1929 ) is a former British marathon runner .
In 1955 he won a marathon from Doncaster to Sheffield and the Edinburgh Highland Games and came in 18th place at the Košice Marathon . The following year he was eighth in the Polytechnic Marathon in 2:25:29 h and sixth in the English championship.
In 1957 he won the Polytechnic Marathon, became English champion with his personal best of 2:22:28 h and came second in Košice.
In 1958 he finished fifth in the Polytechnic Marathon and fourth for England at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff .
