Eddie Mapp

Eddie Mapp (* 1910 in Social Circle , Georgia ; † 14. November 1931 in Atlanta , Georgia) was an American blues - harmonica player . He was best known as the partner of Blind Willie McTell and Barbecue Bob .

Life

At the age of 12, Mapp performed with the guitarist Curley Weaver . The two played intermittently with the brothers Charley (known as Laughing Charley Lincoln ) and Robert Hicks (known as Barbecue Bob ). At the recommendation of Barbecue Bob, Mapp made his first recordings with the Georgia Cotton Pickers in 1929 . His first solo recording that year was Riding the Blinds . He also played the harmonica when recording various blues musicians. In 1931, a month after Barbecue Bob's death, Eddie Mapp died in a knife attack that was never cleared up.
