Edgar Álvarez , full name Edgar Anthony Álvarez Reyes , (born January 8, 1980 in Puerto Cortes ) is a Honduran football player .

The 1.73 meter tall midfielder Álvarez began his career at Club Deportivo Platense . In early July 2003 he moved - according to press reports on the recommendation of his compatriot Danilo Turcios - to the Uruguayan club Club Atlético Peñarol . In August 2004 he was loaned to Cagliari Calcio . For the Italians, he completed 15 first division games until his last league appearance on May 15, 2005 and scored once in the opposing goal. A year later, the Montevidean club transferred him to AS Roma on loan with an option to buy . There he was used in 20 Serie A games (no goal) in the 2005/06 season . In the 2006/07 season he was on loan to FC Messina , played in 32 first division games and scored two goals. After he was used on the 1st match day of the 2007/08 season in another Serie A match for AS Roma, another loan within the league followed immediately. The receiving club was AS Livorno, for whom he already played on the 2nd match day and had eight league appearances by the end of the season. In mid-September 2008 he joined the second division AC Pisa as part of a further loan deal . There he met in the 2008/09 season five times in 26 second division appearances. In mid-2009 he moved to AS Bari . In the following two seasons, the statistics show 66 league games and four goals for him across all seasons. From the end of August 2011, he continued his career with US Palermo and played his last eight Serie A games with the Sicilians. Then Dinamo Bucharest signed him at the end of July 2012 . In the Romanians he was placed five times in the first team and once in the second-rate second representation in the league. Since August 2013 at the latest he has been playing for CD Platense again. For the Honduran club he has so far (as of April 12, 2018) completed 115 first division games and scored five goals.
