Edgar Crasemann

Edgar Crasemann (born January 29, 1896 in Strättligen ; † July 18, 1973 ) was a Swiss agricultural chemist .

Life

Edgar Crasemann was born in 1896 to Eduard and Sophie Crasemann (née Hügli). The father came from Hamburg, the mother from Bern. After attending primary school in Wichtrach and Göttibach near Thun and the Progymnasium in Thun , he became a student in the literary department of the Free Gymnasium in Bern , where he passed the Matura examination in autumn 1915. From autumn 1915 he attended the agricultural department of the ETH Zurich . His studies were interrupted several times by military service and practical work on farms. In the summer of 1920 he received the ETH diploma as a farmer.

From autumn 1919 to February 1920 Crasemann was Oberfeldmeister (head of department) in the Patria scout department , where he was called "Bari". He then founded the Flamberg scout department with Adolf Souviron (“Suri”) and Werner Buri (“Porridge”) and was first head field master from January 1921 to October 1928. From 1925 to 1932 he was cantonal field master (KFM) and from 1927 to 1937 federal commissioner for Eastern Switzerland . From 1950 he was Vice President and President of the Swiss Scout Association . He was also chairman of the departmental council of the Flamberg from 1928 to 1965.

Edgar Crasemann was associate professor from 1936 to 1943 and full professor for special agricultural chemistry at ETH Zurich from 1943 to 1966 .
