Scout Corps Patria Bern

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Scout Corps Patria Bern is a city scout corps that was founded on February 13, 1913. The communication organ of the Scout Corps Patria is called Hallo and has been published quarterly since 1924.

history

The association was founded in Bern in 1913 as the Patria scout department by Walther von Bonstetten and the brothers André Lombard and Eduard Lombard . In 1921 three former members of the Pfadi Patria, including the former head of department Edgar Crasemann , founded the Flamberg scout department in Zurich .

During a visit to Kandersteg in 1922 Walther von Bonstetten found an abandoned chalet and suggested to Robert Baden-Powell the creation of an international home for scouts. 19:29, Jan. 28, 2019 (CET) In the following year, von Bonstetten laid the foundation stone for the creation of the Kandersteg International Scout Center (KISC), which is the world center of the World Organization of the Scout, with the establishment of the Scouts International Home Association Movement (WOSM) in Kandersteg , Switzerland . In the same year the Patria headquarters, the Mauerrainheim at the High Court in Bern, was bought.

In 1925, the Patria Scout Corps with over 200 participants took part in the first Swiss federal camp in Bern, with Robert Baden-Powell paying a visit to the Patria department. The friendship with Bonstetten led him to visit the Patria again in 1929. At the first World Scout Moot in 1931 in the Kandersteg International Scout Center , the Patrians were involved as helpers and in the main management.

For founding and supporting the KISC in Kandersteg, Bonstetten received the highest award in the Boy Scout Movement, the Bronze Wolf, from Robert Baden-Powell in 1937 .

On June 23, 1939, the Bonstetten department manager signed the purchase agreement for the Gwatt camp on Lake Thun . In the following spring the first construction warehouse was carried out. Due to the large number of members, the department was divided into the four tribes Bantiger , Grauholz , Manneberg and Stockeren in 1949 . The book Mein Name ist Eugen by Patrian Klaus Schädelin , published in 1955, also fueled the growth of the Patria department.

In 1957 the Mannenberg tribe bought the Berghaus Ramslouenen in the Kiental. In 1962, the 60,000 m² path in Hartlisberg ob Steffisburg was bought, which was to serve as a future replacement for the area in Gwatt, which had not yet been sold. A fifth trunk Lutzeren was opened in 1964. During this time the department numbered well over a thousand members.

In the course of the founding of the Swiss Scout Movement in 1987, the Patria Department was converted into the Patria Corps, with the tribes becoming departments that existed until the Patria Scout Corps was restructured in March 2003. In order to counteract the widespread decline in membership in the Swiss Scout Movement, the Patria Scout Corps was restructured in 2003, whereby the departmental structures (Grauholz, Gurten, Mannenberg, Lutzeren) were dissolved and units were merged and transferred to the Corps.

An important turning point was the return to 100% volunteering. This led to the reorganization and orientation of the secretariat in 2009. In the spring of 2010, the starting shot was given for the extension of two furnished rooms to the Hartlisberg Pfadiheim, above Steffisburg near Thun. On March 5, 2011, a new unit (Meute Raschka) was opened after more than 10 years. The long-term project of the corps and department management laid the foundation for a sustainable growth strategy. On April 24, 2012, the Auguet Scout Department merged with the Patria Scout Corps. The Auguet department was previously supported by Patria for two years.

In spring 2013 the Tannenthal scout home, which belonged to the Auguet scout department, was integrated into the Patria. The patriotic staircase, which connects Stadtbachstrasse with Mauerrain, was opened by the councilor Franziska Teuscher as part of the anniversary celebration . The 18th Social Prize of the City of Bern was awarded on December 5, 2013. a. to the Scout Corps Patria Bern.

Homes of the Patria Scout Corps

The association maintains various homes in the city and in the canton of Bern. The scout corps Patria owns the scouting home Mauerrain, right near the train station in the center of Bern. The Elfenauheim, the Bantigerheim and the Eymattheim are added to the urban area. The Hartlisbergheim above Steffisburg , the Ramsloueneheim above Kiental as well as the red-white island and the Tannetalheim in the municipality of Muri near Bern belong to the Patria scout corps .

The Patria Room in the Kandersteg International Scout Center , inaugurated in 1956, was donated by the Patria Scout Corps.
