World Scout Moot
A World Scout Moot is an international Scout meeting of Rover , the Scouts 18-26 years. The word moot comes from the Old English language and means assembly .
The World Scout Moot takes place every four years. The venue is determined by the World Scout Association WOSM . During the Second World War and between 1961 and 1990 no moots or substitute events , so-called World Moot Years , took place.
The first World Scout Moot in Asia took place from July 30th to August 10th, 2004 in Hualien , Republic of China on Taiwan . 2,500 rovers from 85 countries took part, more nations than any other moot before.
A World Scout Moot originally planned for 2008 in Mozambique was canceled at the end of 2006. Instead, a World Scout Moot was planned for 2010 in Kenya , which took place from July 27 to August 7, 2010 near Nairobi .
In addition to these global meetings, there are also regional or country-specific moots, such as B. an Australian or New Zealand moot, but scouts from all countries are allowed to participate.
