Edmond Cherouvrier
Edmond-Marie Cherouvrier (born February 7, 1831 in Sablé-sur-Sarthe , † November 22, 1905 ) was a French composer.
Live and act
Cherouvier was retired at the Collège de l'Immaculée-Conception de Vaugirard in Paris, which was known for its good music lessons, before studying with Simon Leborne at the Conservatoire de Paris . In 1858 he won the First Second Grand Prix de Rome with the cantata Jephté after Emile Cécile .
In the following years he composed several operas, of which only Le Roi des Mines was performed at the Théâtre-Lyrique in 1863 , as well as some church music works. Cherouvier was Mayor of the XIV Arrondissement of Paris from 1870 to 1878. In 1879 he became general secretary of the Paris Opera . From 1882 he was one of the four vice-presidents of the Société des compositeurs de musique (alongside Edmond Membrée , Alexandre Guilmant and Antonin Guillot de Sainbris ).
