Edmond van Aubel

Edmond Marie Lambert van Aubel (born August 5, 1864 in Liège , † July 10, 1941 in Ghent ) was a Belgian experimental physicist. He was a professor at Ghent University .

Van Aubel received his doctorate from the University of Liège in 1888 under Walthère-Victor Spring (1848–1911). Then he was at the Royal Military School as a tutor and from 1890 he taught at the University of Ghent with a full professorship from 1900. He retired in 1934 (his successor was Jules Verschaffelt ).

He dealt with magnetism, electrical conductivity and physical chemistry.

He attended the third and fourth Solvay conferences (1921, 1924).

In 1907 he became a knight and in 1912 an officer of the Order of Leopold. In 1925 he became commander of the Crown Order. In 1912 he became a corresponding and in 1920 full member of the Royal Belgian Academy of Sciences.
