Edmund Bercker

Edmund Bercker (born June 29, 1936 in Kevelaer ) is a German philologist and publisher .

Life

Bercker has a doctorate in philology. In 1966 he joined the publishing house Butzon & Bercker , which was founded by his grandfather Franz Hermann Bercker and continued by his father Edmund Bercker. In 1970 he became manager there.

From 1975 to 1980 he was chairman of the Association of Catholic Publishers and Booksellers (member since 1969; long-time board member). He is a member of the journalistic commissions of the German Bishops' Conference , the Central Committee of German Catholics and the Catholic Media Association .

He is a member of the CDU and was deputy mayor of Kevelaer.

Bercker is also married and has four children. His third son, Markus Bercker, is the fifth generation to run the company.
