EC Bentley

EC Bentley (actually Edmund Clerihew Bentley ; * July 10, 1875 in London , † March 30, 1956 ibid) was a British writer .

Life

At Edmund Clerihew Bentley is remembered as the inventor of the Clerihew , a humorous poetry, a short biographical quatrains with quirky character over celebrity. He worked as a journalist for several newspapers, including the Daily Telegraph . In addition to the Clerihews, his detective novels were also appreciated, the best known being Trent's Last Case (1913). Among his admirers was Dorothy L. Sayers . Some of his works have recently been reprinted.
