Edmund Kösel

Edmund Kösel (* 1935 ) is a German educator . He was professor for school education and group education at the University of Education in Freiburg im Breisgau .

The focus of his work is subjective didactics , social competence , supervision , psychodrama , group pedagogy as well as professional training and further education. He himself says: "My vision for the future is the development of postmodern learning cultures."

In his work Die Modellierung von Lernwelten (1993), Kösel developed the theory of subjective didactics. The theory draws its basic axioms from the assumption that every person is a closed, unique system with its own structure of consciousness. The imparting of knowledge and experience takes place exclusively through the self-organization of the individual (theory of autopoiesis ). Teachers and learners therefore have a self-contained system of consciousness that can only be communicated to one another via classroom communication.

This new didactics is developed through an interdisciplinary approach, which contains social, anthropological, individual historical and didactic dimensions. Theoretical foundations are the theory of living systems ( autopoiesis ), systems theory (didactics in systems), constructivism (knowledge construction), results from brain research (consciousness systems of teachers and students) and a separate didactic theory of action. The field of communication is marked as a "drift zone" between teachers and students. The representation of knowledge constructions and the development of postmodern learning cultures is fundamental to any general didactic.
