Edna Arbel ( Hebrew עדנה ארבל; * June 22, 1944 in Jerusalem ) is an Israeli lawyer and judge at the Supreme Court of Israel .

Edna Arbel became a lawyer in 1969 . In 1972 she started working for the central district prosecutor and became district attorney in 1984. In 1988 she was appointed as a judge at the Tel Aviv District Court. She was appointed attorney general in 1996 and appointed to the Israeli Supreme Court in 2004. Your appointment came after considerable debate.

She has prepared charges of corruption and impeachment against Ariel Sharon and his sons. The indictment, announced by her in 2004, sparked considerable debate over the requirements for impeachment proceedings for an Israeli prime minister. The prosecution was finally dropped by the Attorney General Menachem Masus .
