Edouard Wolff
Edouard Wolff ( Edward Wolff , born September 15, 1816 in Warsaw , † October 16, 1880 in Paris ) was a Polish pianist and composer.
Life
Wolff had his first piano lessons from his mother, an amateur pianist, and then studied from 1828 in Vienna with Wilhelm Würfel . After his return to Warsaw in 1832 he took private lessons with Joseph Elsner .
In 1835 he went to Paris, where he initially had contact with Frédéric Chopin , who introduced him to the Parisian musical society. Later there was an estrangement between him and Chopin. Nevertheless, he dedicated two of his more than 300 piano pieces to Chopin: the Grand Allegro de Concert and Rêverie-Nocturne (Hommage à Chopin) . He also composed forty duos for piano and violin and a piano concerto.
