Eduard Amstutz (born November 18, 1903 in Thun ; † June 7, 1985 in Pfäfers ; resident in Sigriswil ) was a Swiss engineer and university professor.

Life

Eduard Amstutz, son of the Thun mayor of the same name, attended high school in Bern and completed a mechanical engineering degree at the ETH Zurich by 1927 . After working in the construction of the Oberhasli power station and as a control engineer at the Federal Aviation Office , he became an associate professor in 1937 and a full professor of aircraft statics and aircraft construction at ETH Zurich in 1943 . From the winter semester of 1949 until his retirement on September 30, 1969, he was a full professor of materials science and testing at the ETH Zurich and president of the Swiss Federal Materials Testing and Research Institute (Empa).
