Eduard Steglich

Gotthelf Theodor Eduard Steglich (born April 1, 1811 in Dresden , † July 13, 1884 in Grimma ) was a German pedagogue, musician and composer.

Live and act

He was the son of Johann Wilhelm August Steglich (1775-1842) and his wife Johanna Sophia Steglich nee Pietzsch widowed Rosenthal. The pedagogue and Evangelical Lutheran theologian Friedrich August William Steglich was his four years older brother, with whom he had a close relationship throughout his life.

After attending school and studying, Eduard Steglich became cantor in the city of Rochlitz in 1833 . In 1838 he moved to Grimma, where he became cantor and senior teacher at the Royal Saxon School Teacher Seminar.

In his school and free time he created several musical works, including motets, chorale melodies and chorale preludes for organs.

Among other things, he left behind the son of the same name.
