Eduard Wissmann , also Wißmann, pseudonym Erwin Wester (born September 27, 1824 in Gemünden (Westerwald) , † August 29, 1899 in Wiesbaden ) was a German politician and writer.

Life

Wissmann, son of a pastor, attended the pedagogy in Hadamar and the grammar school Philippinum in Weilburg , before he turned to the study of law at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg in 1845 . Like many graduates of the Weilburg high school, he joined the Corps Nassovia Heidelberg . In 1848 he became an accessist, then an assessor at various Nassau courts, in 1866 district assessor in Hadamar, 1867 district judge, 1879 district judge in Wiesbaden. He retired in 1893 because of the consequences of a stroke.

From 1873 to 1879 and 1882 to 1892 Wissmann was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives , where he belonged to the faction of the German-free-spirited party . He was involved as a member of the local church council, the district synod and was active in public bodies. Among other things, he was a member of the Agricultural Spruchkollegium in Wiesbaden, secretary of the local trade association in Dillenburg, chairman of the local trade association in Höchst, co-founder of the advance payment association in Höchst, director of the trade association for Nassau and member of the select committee for the construction of the Niederwald monument .

Since his high school days, Wissmann was also active as a writer. Under the pseudonym Erwin Wester he published poems, stories, novels, dramas and fairy tales.
