Eduardo Acevedo Díaz
Eduardo Acevedo Díaz (born April 20, 1851 in Montevideo , † June 18, 1921 in Buenos Aires , Argentina ) was a Uruguayan writer and politician .
Life
Eduardo Acevedo Díaz studied in the Uruguayan capital Montevideo and initially became politically active there. Acevedo Díaz participated in the Revolución Blanca and the Revolución Tricolor and supported the political views of the conservative Uruguayan Partido Nacional . From August 17, 1906, he was the Uruguayan ambassador to Argentina . In this office he was succeeded on August 7, 1908 by Gonzalo Ramírez .
His literary works were shaped by the naturalism and realism prevalent in Latin America during Acevedo Díaz's lifetime , but are still rooted in literary romanticism . Eduardo Acevedo Díaz is considered to be the first Uruguayan of (historical) novels in his native Uruguay .
