Eduardo Miter

Eduardo Miter (* 1943 in Oruro , Bolivia ) is a Bolivian poet , essayist , critic and literary translator . He received his doctorate in 1981 from the University of Pittsburgh with the work Huidobro: hambre de espacio y sed de cielo on the poetry of Vicente Huidobro . In addition to his own volumes of poetry, he published four anthologies of Bolivian poetry accompanied by longer essays. He also published an anthology of Belgian poems in 1998, which he translated from French into Spanish.

He is an Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh and Professor of Literature at Saint John's University . According to the assessment of the Festival for Latin American Poetry in Vienna, he is one of the “most widely recognized and internationally celebrated poets in Bolivia”. He is a full member of the Bolivian Language Academy .
