Eduardo Batalha Viveiros de Castro (born April 19, 1951 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian anthropologist and lecturer at the Brazilian National Museum of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro .

His publications are of great importance in Brazilian anthropology and in the ethnology of the indigenous peoples of America , including: Amazônia: etnologia e história indígena and A inconstância da alma selvagem e outros ensaios de antropologia .

Viveiros de Castro has taught at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales , the University of Chicago and the University of Cambridge . He made significant contributions to the development of the idea of Indian perspectivism ( perspectivismo ameríndo , perspectivismo amazônica ).
