Edward John Amoore (born March 20, 1877 in London , † July 11, 1955 there ) was a British marksman .
successes
Edward Amoore took part in the 1908 Olympic Games in London in four disciplines with the small bore rifle. In the recumbent position he reached fifth place, and he finished the competition for the moving target in 19th place. The competition to the vanishing goal was far more successful for him, in which, like seven other competitors, he achieved the best value of 45 points. After evaluating the goals, William Styles was declared Olympic champion , while Amoore was ranked third behind Harold Hawkins and thus won the bronze medal. In the team competition, in which only three teams competed, the British prevailed against Sweden and France with 771 points and became Olympic champions. In addition to Amoore, Maurice Matthews , Harold Humby and William Pimm were part of the British team. With 189 points he was the weakest British shooter, but none of the Swedish or French shooters achieved a higher number of points.
