Edward Bogusławski

Edward Bogusławski (born September 22, 1940 in Chorzów ; † May 24, 2003 in Katowice ) was a Polish composer and music teacher.

Bogusławski studied music theory at the State Music Academy in Katowice from 1959 to 1964 , and from 1961 to 1966 composition with Bolesław Szabelski . In 1967 he completed additional studies with Roman Haubenstock-Ramati in Vienna. From 1963 until his death he worked in various functions at the Katowice State Music Academy: from 1971 to 1975 and from 1990 to 1996 as Dean of the Faculty of Composition, Conducting and Music Theory and several times as Vice Rector. In addition, he taught from 1971 to 1984 at the branch of the Silesian University in Cieszyn and from 1984 headed the Faculty of Music Theory and Pedagogy of the College of Education in Częstochowa .

Bogusławski's works have been performed at music festivals such as the Warsaw Autumn , the Poznan Music Spring and the Silesian Days for Contemporary Music, and internationally in England, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Portugal and the United States. He has received numerous prizes at Polish and foreign composition competitions and music festivals and was awarded the Golden Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland and the Knight's Cross of the Polonia Restituta Order.
