Edward Killingworth Johnson
Edward Killingworth Johnson (born May 30, 1825 in Stratford-le-Bow , now London , † April 7, 1896 in Halstead , Essex ) was an English painter.
Edward Killingworth Johnson trained as a painter without a teacher and only copied older pictures through drawings on wood. He did not begin watercolor painting until 1863, but achieved such significant achievements so quickly that he became a member of the Society for Watercolor Painting in 1866 and a full member of it in 1876.
After living in London until 1871, he retired to his country estate in northern Essex. Among his works, which are reminiscent of Meissonier in the conception of the figures , are:
- The Scared Mother (1874)
- The florists
- A golden swarm (flower garden)
- A look in the mailbag and
- Going to bed
