Edward Silva

Edward Silva (born August 31, 1975 ) is a Uruguayan weightlifter.

Career

Edward Silva won two bronze medals in jerk and duel at the 1994 South American Games in Valencia . He took part with the Uruguayan team in the 1995 Pan American Games in Mar del Plata . In the following year, Silva was part of the Uruguayan squad at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta . There he finished 19th in the middleweight division. In 1998, he also took part in the South American Games, as well as four years later in the South American Games in 2002 . At the last-mentioned games in Brazil , he won the bronze medal in snatch, push and duel. He also represented the Uruguayan weightlifters at the Pan American Games in 1999 , 2003 and 2007 . In 2001 , Silva , who started for the team champion of that year, Gimnasio Uruguayo de Musculación y Halterofilia (GUMHA), also won the Uruguayan championship in the individual category up to 77 kg. In 2002 he was then Uruguayan champion in the class up to 85 kg.
