Edward Szmidt
Edward Szmidt (actually Edward Jan Schmidt; born August 4, 1931 in Hindenburg OS ) is a former Polish sprinter .
In 1955 he won silver over 200 m at the World Festival of Youth and Students .
At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956, he was sixth in the 4-by-100-meter relay and reached the quarter-finals over 200 m .
In 1958 he was eliminated from the European Athletics Championships in Stockholm over 200 m in the semifinals and over 100 m and in the 4 x 100 meter relay in the preliminary run.
His younger brother Józef Szmidt was Olympic champion in the triple jump in 1960 and 1964.
