Edward Winter (actor)
Edward Dean Winter (also Ed Winter ; born June 3, 1937 in Ventura , California - † March 8, 2001 in Woodland Hills , Los Angeles , California) was an American actor . He began his career in 1962 as a stage actor with the San Francisco Actors Workshop before he went to New York, where he was nominated for a Tony Award in 1967 for best supporting actor (role "Mr. Ludwig") in Cabaret . In 1969 he was nominated for another Tony for the role of "JD Sheldrake" in Promises, Promises .
During his screen career, Winter played mainly guest and supporting roles in numerous American TV series, including Golden Girls , Vier mal Herman or Cagney & Lacey . His most famous role was that of paranoid Colonel Sam Flagg in the comedy series M * A * S * H , although he (it once under the name in only seven episodes Captain Halloran ) appeared on the scene and once in the spin-off Aftermash to was seen.
Winter died at the age of 63 from complications from Parkinson's disease .
