Eftim II.
. Eftim II (born Turgut Erenerol , * 1920 in Ankara ; † 9. May 1991 in Istanbul ) was Patriarch of Autocephalous Turkish Orthodox Patriarchate , one of the Greek Orthodox Church is not recognized orthodox- Christian denomination with strong influences from the Turkish - nationslistischen ideology . His father, Eftim I , was the founder of this patriarchate.
Turgut Erenerol studied medicine at the Medical Faculty of Istanbul University . And then worked as an anesthetist at New York's Montefiore Medical Center. In 1960 he returned to Turkey. He became patriarch after Papa Eftim I resigned from office in 1962 for health reasons. Eftim II held the office of patriarch ( papa ) from 1962 until his death on May 9, 1991. His successor was his younger brother Eftim III.
