Efua Dorkenoo
Efua Dorkenoo (born September 6, 1949 in Cape Coast , Ghana , † October 18, 2014 in London , United Kingdom ) was a Ghanaian suffragette and activist against genital mutilation of girls and women (FGM). She was the founder of The Foundation for Women's Health, Research and Development (FORWARD) and chaired it from 1983 until her death in 2014.
Her 1994 work Cutting The Rose: Female Genital Mutilation the Practice and its Prevention was included on the list of Africa's 100 Best Books of the 20th Century.
